Mission

The Tucson Arts Brigade (TAB) is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) arts and education organization dedicated to the participatory arts with an emphasis on mural production and professional arts education for youth and adults.

History

The Tucson Arts Brigade is a community arts and education organization. We have sponsored more than a hundred temporary and permanent public art projects and served the Tucson community with education and outreach opportunities in the arts since 1996. At that time Downtown With the Arts was in full swing and hundreds joined in creating huge street chalk murals at night, by the morning it was all a shared memory. This experience was complimented by ongoing fine arts workshops. These workshops continue, facilitated by established and emerging arts professionals offering hands on technical training in beginning and advanced painting, drawing, printmaking, design, sculpture and photography.

Our focus on world class arts education for youth ages 4-17 includes art history from multi cultural and environmental perspectives. This knowledge is applied to participatory art works such as murals, banners and installations. TAB continues to be an innovator in the field of participatory arts with works in India, Jamaica and Canada as well as more than 16 murals throughout Tucson. We work as a team with parents, students, artists, advisors and board members to continuously improve our programs and projects.

In the spring of 2004 TAB moved to a project by project based programming structure.
